NEW HOMEGROUND, BUSINESS OF WORDS & MORE: The 25th anniversary edition of HomeGround has been published, and I'm pleased to have a number of poems and an essay on the poetry and photography of John Carder Bush included in this one. Editor Krys Fitzgerald-Morris worked on the issue for months and months and has done a beautiful job. HomeGround's mission is to cover the world of Kate Bush, but it has grown into so much more. Poetry from around the world, essays, stories, interviews all make up this slickly produced mag. One of my favorite pieces in this issue is an essay written by Guy Pearce (yes, the dishy actor from Memento) about his love of Kate's music. For more information or to order a copy, visit the website. Krys said 1,000 copies were printed and only 300 remain.

A new edition of The Business of Words is now available for download or to listen on your computer. The special guest is Megan Volpert (aka Dr. Madelyn Hatter) talking about her new books, face blindness and Domestic Transmissions. You can hear the interview at this link.

Poet Ward Abel kindly asked me to submit poems to appear along side his own in an upcoming edition of Contemporary American Voices. The online journal is one of the best, having featured such great poets as Robert Pinsky, Ilya Kaminsky, Corey Mesler and more.

Finally, after last Friday's disappointing turn out, I pulled the plug on my reading series/open mic Poetry at Portfolio Center. After four years of hosting an open mic, I'm ready for a bit of a break, and there are now so many open mic opportunities in Atlanta that they are all starting to compete for audience. This doesn't mean I'm hanging up my hosting duties completely. I'll emcee Voices Carry 2007 this fall, and Poetry Atlanta will begin hosting a quarterly reading series at Wordsmiths Books in Decatur. More details on all this soon. In the meantime, if you're looking for a mic to read your work, visit the Poetry Atlanta events calendar.
