NEW POEM PUBLISHED: A poem from my Memphis series, Whipping Boy, has been published at Reimagining Place, the online companion to Ecotone, the literary magazine from the University of North Carolina, Wilmington. Many thanks to editor David Harris-Gershon for selecting the work.

The online version meshes the definition of the word ecotone  -- a transitional zone standing between two connected, yet separate ecosystems -- with a rotating theme. The current theme is addiction and Whipping Boy fits the bill on many levels: alcohol, sex and love. It's a pleasure to join fellow poets Peter Pereira, Jeannine Hall Gailey and Laurel Snyder, who have also had work recently featured at Ecotone.

I spent an amazing Saturday morning at Wordsmiths Books in Decatur watching great poets like Opal Moore, Beth Gylys, Rupert Fike and Alice Lovelace filmed for the Poetry Atlanta DVD. Tim O'Donnell brought his professional camera and lighting set up. It was like walking onto a film set. We did interview segments with the poets that will act as transitions between performances, and I was also taped reading my Wonder Woman poem, which will be on the DVD. The film is really taking shape and we're planning to have it for sale later this year.

That poem will stay with me for a long, long time. Great work, Collin--I especially admire the last stanza, which gave me shivers.

Wonderfully Intense -- I love this journal and its "sister" blog. Your poem is, of course, a perfect fit here.
