Chanel No. 5 with Audrey Tautou

This is the first time I've ever posted a commercial on my blog (other than film or music trailers), but this ad for Chanel No. 5 directed by Jean-Pierre Jeunet and starring Audrey Tautou (they worked together on Amelie) is so beautiful I couldn't resist. Audrey is gorgeous, the guy following her is gorgeous, Nice and Istanbul are gorgeous, and it's capped off with Billie Holiday singing "I'm A  Fool To Want You." Perfection. Share the fantasy...

Thanks for posting this, Collin. I've seen this advert several times, especially on Hulu.com. Anything Jean-Pierre Jeunet (and co) touches is brilliant. I thought of you this morning. I was watching Peter Greenaway's The Draughtsman's Contract and might write about it on my blog. I think you mentioned once being a PG fan. Wouldn't surprise me. Our cinematic tastes seem to dovetail most of the time. I'd go to the movies with you any old day.

She reminds me of Audrey Hepburn, so emotive and vulnerable. Wonderful "short film."

That boy is tasty. Who is he?

I don't know, I prefer Audrey Tautou as loopy Emelie. This was a little too sincere for me. Plus, she looks so damn skeletal, as though a skant breeze could blow her away. She looked meatier, more substantial, in Emelie. Probably has less to do with weight and more to do with character. But you know me, I like meat on my women! Still, visually this is beautiful, and the Billie Holiday at the end is a great touch.

I think I couldn't resist either, my favorite perfume is that one, and the singer is one of my top 3 jazz one. Maybe Billy holiday would have made that commercial perfect, anyway it is almost there.

And people actually wonder why I love Paris so much! I've worn Chanel perfumes for years, although until recently I wasn't really old enough for #5 which is meant for mature women. Anyway, this is so quintessentially French. Lovely!

Great find, just saw this ad the other night, didn't know it was on youtube, thanks Collin. Yes, very Audrey. & isn't Amelie a delightful movie!

ahhh so romantic, paris & perfume -- now all we need are madeleine cakes.
Getting caught up with you, Coll, (always in chronological order, of course!). Wow, this is sooooooo lovely! I miss Paris.(sigh)
