Leaving Paris - the song

I am thrilled to announce that electronic music diva and poet Vanessa Daou has collaborated with brokenkites on a song based on Leaving Paris. The single (from Kid Recordings and Daou Records) will be available for download via iTunes and other outlets on April 15, the same day the novel is officially published.

Vanessa has been one of my muses and inspirations for 20+ years now, so the fact that I've been able to collaborate with her and brokenkites on a song (and a music video, too) is surreal!

Here's the blurb for the single:

‘Leaving Paris’ is the haunting collaboration between electronic jazz-pop chanteuse Vanessa Daou and experimental electronic/IDM composer James Willard (aka brokenkites). Inspired by author Collin Kelley’s novel ‘Leaving Paris’ (Part Three of ‘The Venus Trilogy’), the meditative torch-song conveys a sense of longing and romantic nostalgia for the eternal City of Light. Daou’s bare lithe vocals and intimate poetic lyrics hover seductively over brokenkites ambient electronic textures which coalesce into a delicate melodic epiphany that’s both hedonistic and transcendent.
