Literary Notes & Notions

My essay "Foreign Affairs" about the creation of The Venus Trilogy is now up at The Good Men Project. I plan to contribute on a regular basis to the site, so watch for future posts.

The Broadleaf Writers Conference is coming up Sept. 24-25 at the DeKalb County Library in Decatur. There will be two days of panels and critique sessions with writers, agents and editors. There's only 150 slots available, so sign up today!

Sibling Rivalry Press is transitioning to a nonprofit and needs your help. The press has been offered a matching grant of $25,000, so SRP is doing a summer fundraiser. The press is offering up some cool perks (including one of the few remaining copies of Ocean Vuong's rare chapbook, Burnings). Help this award-winning press get to the next level by making a donation at this link.

Theresa Davis and I will be reading poetry at the Word of Mouth series at The Globe in Athens on Tuesday, June 7, at 8 p.m. If you happen to be in the city (or feel like making a road trip), come and join us.

The "Leaving Paris" song by Vanessa Daou and brokenkites, which was inspired by novel, received a wonderful review at DMC World. "A spellbinding piece of music that deserves your dedication." Read the full review at this link.
