WHAT RHYMES WITH DOPE? THAT WOULD BE POPE...as in Pope John Paul the Moronic. It's been in the international headlines today that old PJ is publishing a new book where he calls gay marriage part of the "new ideology of evil" and compares abortion to the Holocaust. This is the point where I would usually say, "just die already, old man," but the tragedy is once this old sack of sanctimony does kick the bucket, there will be another just like him. So, let's break this down a bit shall we...
This is the Pope, and all the Popies who came before him, who is complicit in letting its priests molest little altar boys for years without lifting a finger, but don't you dare grow up and profess your love for someone of the same sex. Then you are EVIL. The old "ideology of evil" is just more backwards thinking from the head of an organized religion that outlived its usefulness (as ALL organized religions have) hundreds of years ago. It's nothing but hate speech and will certainly give homophobes around the world yet another reason to bash and discriminate because good old Pope J. said homosexuals are EVIL. I know many Catholics who are totally outraged by the Pope and Vatican stance on homosexuality. These comments are sure to divide the church even further.
Okay, let's take on the comparison of abortion to the Holocaust. This is a fine statement from the same Vatican that knew of the concentration camps as early as 1942 and old Pope Pius refused to condemn the Shoah publicly. While PP's actions have been endlessly debated for years, clearly the current Dope...I mean Pope...could have found a better analogy for his desire to strip women of their rights...whether they are Christian or not. Because don't forget, if you ain't a Christian, you're going to HELL on a fast train, and you can take those pesky Jews with you.
It's funny how the Pope had this new book of his lying around in a drawer for a decade and just decided to bring it out now when America is waist deep in the debate over gay marriage and abortion. I was fascinated by those tapes released last week where Dubya admitted smoking pot and said he wasn't going to "kick the gays." While Dubya might not be homophobic, he's pandering, and complicit, to all these right-wing fundamentalist whack jobs who want to see Roe v. Wade overturned and homosexuals stuffed back into the closet. Poopeyhead John Paul's book is just more fuel for the fundamentalist fire that seems to have a strangle-hold on America at the moment.

justified, too. pope & co. are flogging the same type of hate used to justify wholesale slaughter of jews throughout the ages. (don't get me started on c. church and the holocaust.) the current public fear of gays is enough to make me move to canada, which for me is a real option as Wife is canadian. all in all, pope's book is not surprising, but sickening nonetheless.
