PRE-ORDER SLOW TO BURN: Oh, yes, oh, yes! MetroMania Press is now accepting pre-orders for Slow To Burn. The books are $10 (plus $2 for shipping) and can be purchased securely via PayPal. The book is being printed in a limited edition, each hand-numbered and signed. Tanya Keyser, MetroMania's publisher, did a beautiful job with the design. From the metallic red foil on the cover to the fine paper on the inside, this is a marriage of poetry and art. I'm expecting a box of books next week to begin the signing and numbering, and these will be shipped back to Texas in time for the events in San Antonio and the Austin International Poetry Festival. I'll also have copies available during my readings and it will soon be available from Amazon.com. Click here to see a list of upcoming appearances.

For those who asked, I'm posting the table of contents for Slow To Burn. Many of these poems have been previously published in literary journals and magazines and others are getting their first outing:

Speaking of the Austin Poetry Festival, the reading schedule has been announced. I'll be doing three readings, including one at Ruta Maya on Friday, April 21, at 1 p.m. which will feature all the MetroMania Press authors. We will, of course, have books available. I'm doing a late-night reading with the great Suzy Lafollette on April 20 and another on Saturday at Mitchie's Fine Art. I'll also be hobnobbing with Ilya Kaminsky, August Kleinzahler, Kay Ryan and Robert Wynne. Should be a brilliant weekend and a great way to celebrate the release of Slow To Burn.

Kleinzahler is one of my favorite living poets--and I mean in the top 5. I am so envious that you get to meet him. I'm looking forward to your book too!
