YOU JUST HAVE TO LAUGH... or you'll cry at things like this. Last night was the "4 Goethe" reading with Thomas Lux, Holly Jones, Kodac Harrison and myself. Okay, not really. One...count 'em...one person showed up. This was supposed to be a fundraising/awareness building event for the Goethe Institut. Well, no funds were raised and the only thing I'm aware of is that poetry seems to have hit the wall in Atlanta. Sure, we're coming off the holiday, we were charging admission, it's the season. I don't what it is...whatever...blah, blah, blah.

So, we each read one poem to the nice lady who came and then we all went downstairs to the Thai restaurant for a lovely dinner. Tom recounted showing up at a reading in New Hampshire with three other poets and there was only one person in the audience, and that person had passed out and had to be rushed off to hospital. Things could be worse I suppose.

I'll wrap up the Atlanta gigs for Slow To Burn this Sunday night at Java Monkey Speaks in Decatur. It starts at 8 p.m. and is free, plus there's the open mic. And don't forget Friday night is Poetry at the Portfolio Center with Lady Hardin as our featured poet. Sign up for the open mic begins at 7 p.m., readings at 7:30 p.m.

Depressing, I know! But at least the nice lady didn't pass out like the other story.
Still, being in the company that you were in was much better than a flight to NYC via Ohio that was drug out way too long for some weather problems.
Still, I saw the incomparable Annie Ross and told her the story about you seeing her in London, reading the notice of the show in the paper in a cab, etc. She laughed and it seemed to please her very much. Good ol' Annie!
PS - Spam-A-Lot is a must see!!!!

Oh Collin, I don't know whether to laugh or to cry (or both).
