SPARE A THOUGHT FOR MARIANNE: One of my rock goddesses, Marianne Faithfull, has been diagnosed with breast cancer. She canceller her world tour that was slated to start in October to undergo treatment in Paris. The cancer was found early, and Marianne said she plans to make a quick recovery and do the tour in 2007. From her early years as Mick Jagger's lover and muse (When she sang the classic "As Tears Go By") to her brilliant comeback in the late 70s with "Broken English" and her most recent album "Before the Poison" (a collaboration with PJ Harvey and Nick Cave), she remains a vital singer/songwriter and performer. I am sending good thoughts her way.
