MY AWP SCHEDULE: The AWP Conference gets under way on Thursday, and I have already thrown up my hands in surrender. I downloaded the program from the website and started trying to circle all the panels/readings I wanted to attend. It quickly became a fool's errand. So many events are happening at the same time, there's now way you can see everyone and everything, so I'm not even going to try. However, I plan to be there each day at the downtown Hilton. If any of you folks coming down to the ATL want to meet up, here's where you can find me at the book fair:
  • Georgia Writers Association booth: Thursday, March 1, 1:30 - 3 p.m.

  • Atlanta Review/Poetry Atlanta booth: Friday, March 2, noon to 3 p.m.

  • Georgia Writers Association booth: Saturday, March 3, 3 - 5 p.m.

And here are the reading and panel I'm involved in on Saturday, March 3:

  • OUTspoken: Readings by Atlanta's GLBTQ Poets: 10:30 a.m. in the Henry Room.

  • Poets & Writers panel - How to Start, Sustain and Promote Your Reading Series: 1:30 p.m. in the Walton Room.
While I'm excited to be involved in AWP, I'm very excited about the off-site reading I'm hosting on Friday, March 2, at 7:30 p.m. as part of my Poetry at Portfolio Center series. My special guests are award-winning poets Ann Fisher-Wirth and Peter Pereira. The evening begins at 7:30 p.m. with an open mic. The poets involved in the OUTspoken reading -- Franklin Abbott, Theresa Davis, Robin Kemp and Larry Corse -- will also be out to read during the evening. Yes, there are seemingly a zillion other off-site events, but you don't want to miss this one!

I'm off to watch American Idol. A report on how shitty the boys are either later tonight or in the morning.
