WEEKEND UPDATE 2: Here's some shitty photographic evidence of the weekend. My cheapo digital camera purchased last year for a trip to the UK showed its limitations last night in low light situations. As you can see...blurry, dark and generally shitty. Anyway, from top to bottom, the interior of the new Wordsmiths Books in Decatur where I performed with Poetry Atlanta on Saturday. The next one is Rupert Fike performing at Wordsmiths as part of the Art Amok reading yesterday. He was joined by Gpysee Yo, but that photo didn't turn out at all. The next one is Kodac Harrison hosting Java Monkey last night and marking the open mic and reading series' sixth anniversary. Amazing! The last photo is the brilliant Karen Wurl featuring at Java Monkey. Karen is moving to Michigan to teach and continue her education, and she will be missed on the Atlanta spoken word and theatre scene. A great weekend of poetry!

The first one is not so bad when you click on it and blow it up but the others are pretty bad. Were you drunk?

um, I see that decision not to iron my shirt wasn't very metro-sexual of me, lol - thanks for the pic and for all you do for the local scene - that opening weekend would have been doa w'out the readings and the patrons we brought in . . . good luck to Wordsmith

Actually, Rupert, the camera is so shitty the lens adds wrinkles, too. ;-)

I love California, but with your cool community poetry posts, you make Atlanta seem quite appealing!

Kate, we need to get you out here sometime for a reading. I got the hook ups. :)
