WEEKEND MUSIC: Ev'ry Time We Say Goodbye - Annie Lennox




Annie Lennox pays tribute to the great director Derek Jarman on the Red, Hot + Blue album from 1990 to raise money and awareness for AIDS. Lennox sang the Cole Porter song in one of his last films, Edward II, and Jarman was to direct the video above, but was too ill. Jarman died of complications from AIDS in 1994. The home movies playing over Annie's face are of Jarman as a child.

This had me in tears. It's reminiscent of the close of Philadelphia which I almost couldn't bear to watch, it was so crushingly painful. Thanks for psting and reminding.
