Tonight is the official kick-off of the
Atlanta Queer Literary Festival with keynote addresses by bestselling poet and memoirist Mark Doty, novelist Kate Evans and spoken word artist Blair at 7:30 p.m. I'm the host/emcee for the evening. Our media sponsor, Southern Voice, is holding a reception starting at 6:30 p.m. The event is free and open to the public and will be he held in the auditorium of the Downtown branch of the Atlanta-Fulton County Library, 1 Margaret Mitchell Square. Outwrite Books will be the retailer for this event and authors will be signing books after the event. Free parking is extremely limited in the vicinity of the library (there are lots and decks several blocks away that charge from $10 to $20), so we are encouraging visitors to take MARTA to the Peachtree Center station, just across the street from the library's main entrance. I hope some of you will come out tonight for this fantastic event.
Since I'll be at AQLF, I'll miss the presidential debate tonight. I'll watch the rerun when I get home and have a recap and other thoughts tomorrow. Sounds like McCain is going to go negative yet again, so Obama needs to be dignified, but prepared to counterpunch when necessary. McPalin is still throwing shit at the wall to see what will stick, and the polls show the campaign fading. Let's keep it that way.
