I'll be reading with the great Cecilia Woloch tomorrow (Oct. 11) at Wordsmiths Books, 595 N. McDonough St. in Decatur at 2 p.m. Cecilia will be reading from
Narcissus, which won the Tupelo Press Snowbound Chapbook Award, and I'll be reading from my newly published chapbook of political poems,
After the Poison, from Finishing Line Press. Copies of our books will be for sale and there will be a signing after the reading. Wordsmiths is located on the courthouse square (behind the actual courthouse) next door to Eddie's Attic. Parking is very limited in the lot in front of the shops, but there is ample free parking on McDonough Street and the city parking lot on Trinity Avenue, which is just a block from the square. Please arrive early to find parking and make your way to the store. For directions, visit
www.wordsmithsbooks.com.
Also found out today that the fabulous UK literary magazine Tears In The Fence will publish two of my poems in its winter edition. One of the poems is "My Mother Demonstrates How To Escape From A Plane Crash," which appeared on this blog in an early draft a few months ago. All the comments and suggestions helped shape this poem, so thanks to my readers and fellow poets for their assistance.
