If The Shoe Fits... Bush Hit By Shoes In Iraq

Lame duck George W. Bush is on his "Farewell Tour" (like Cher and Tina Turner?) of Iraq, the country he illegally invaded causing the deaths of thousands of American troops and scores of innocent Iraqis. There's nothing like one last fly-over of a country you bombed and tortured in the name of "democracy." At a press conference in Baghdad yesterday, a journalist took off both of his shoes and hurled them at Dubya. Throwing a shoe at someone is the ultimate insult in Iraq. It literally means the person is dirt and worthless. I'm in total agreement. I just wish the journalist had better aim. Dubya has some good duck and cover reflexes, I'll give him that. I wonder if he gets it from dodging Laura's shoes? Or maybe Barbara's?

i think the shoe-hurler should be nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize

I wonder what would happen to the shoe hurler if the US had never invaded Iraq, and he'd had to throw his shoes at Saddam, instead. Hmmm.

And as for Bush's reflexes, they're good because, say what you want about him (and he's easy to criticize, certainly), he IS fit, and a devotee of daily exercise. Unlike many Americans who just seem to be getting fatter, and fatter, and fatter. Ick.

Yeah, and some people become more and more stupid. Ick, indeed.

I do think Bush looked like he had ducked from shoes quite a few times. His bobbing and weaving during past press conferences came in handy. Your description of his final flyover is sadly very accurate.

Sounds like anonymous has a crush on old Dubya. Ick!

What a sad red herring (two, actually) from Anon. You're pointing out the absolute inanity of this war and the Iraqi response to Bush's "help," and Anon finds this an appropriate moment to offer weight loss tips. Since when does ducking flying shoes define one as "fit"?

loved the cher/tina connect!

If the shoe fits, throw it. That's what I say. Too bad that journalist hadn't practiced hurling his footwear as much as Dubya had practiced ducking.

Amen to that Christine, Button and Brian. Amen.

Is there a countdown for Bush-Gone yet? Oughta be. I don't think he knows it was an insult.

I hope that someone throws shoes at Bush at every public appearance he makes from now until Jan. 20. Let's get a theme going. lol
