American Idol - Allison Iraheta Goes Home

Paula Abdul finally came clean this week about her 12-year pill habit, which she hilariously denied for years despite hours of videotape from American Idol, interviews and appearances on home shopping channels proving otherwise. I guess to celebrate her admission, she decided to "sing" a song tonight, "I'm Just Here for the Music," which was recorded ages ago by Kylie Minogue. The choreography-heavy number was obviously taped earlier and she was lip-synching. The song was auto-tuned into the ground, so it might not have even been Paula's voice. Then No Doubt came out and Gwen Stefani ran around the stage like a crazy person doing a frenetic version of "I'm Just A Girl." No Doubt are going on a massive tour although they don't have a new album, I guess because the guys need some money. Daughtry premiered a new single that sounded just like all of his other songs. Meh. Oh, and they voted Allison off and kept dead-wife-pimping Gokey, white bread Kris and Adam. Gokey should have gone home. That smug bastard. Simon looked pissed at the results. Ditto.

Hadn't really watched this season, but did the other night. Clearly Allison was better than Gokey or Adam. Really, I think it is going to be really hard for another woman to win this competition; the tweens and cougars clearly do all the voting.

Collin, have I mentioned lately I really enjoy reading your blog?

I am pretty pissed that Allison was voted off. And it all makes sense. Like last night when they did the voting off, they never metioned which side was safe or in the bottom two so Kris and Danny or Adam might have been in it. Which means she was voted off for nothing. Even if she was put in the bottom two they would have said you're in the bottom two but they didn't. I really don't think any of these guys should win. Kris doesn't appeal to me and Danny Gokay is just plain boring. Especially last night when he screamed that note, he should have gone home not Allison. And I heard from other people Adam was a performer already so is it really fair to let a performer on American dol when you know he is probably going to win anyways? That';s just plain wrong. I will never forgive America for what they did to Allison. She was the best singer there, and Simon knows it. I really am so angry I don't want to see who wins, but I will anyway. Because if it's Adam I am going on a rampage. He shouldn't have won. Allison should have been in the top two with Adam like an Adam-Allison finale was what I was hoping for. But that was dashed when she was voted off yesterday. Thanks America, you really have bad taste and you'll regret voting her off, to all those nutty fans of Danny,Adam and Kris.

Anonymous, I hear you, but surely you've read that the last few seasons have been populated by people who have had former record deals and careers in music. It's been controversial. Last year they had Carly Smithson, who'd had a major label deal that fell apart. Idol stipulates that anyone who doesn't have a record deal can participate. Yes, it's wrong, but there you are.

The final two are going to be Adam and Gokey. Trust me on this. I hope Adam wins. At least he'll be humble about it, and he'll probably make a decent record.

watching paula gave me angst. (she can't be voted off, can she?)
is it possible gokey could win? i've met his type....trying to figure out where.
one more pressing thing: do you think simon cowell can read music?

PWADJ -- I love your blog, too. :)

Nancy -- I'd rather get rid of Kara than Paula. Simon surely has minions to read music for him. I doubt he can. And, yes, there is a big chance Gokey could win...and then hoepfully fade into obscurity while Adam sells millions of records.

I read that Simon wants to bring the XFactor show from UK to America and have it replace Idol. I think it's time for a change so maybe that's a good idea.
