We must become an enemy of fate... |
Last night was not a revolution, but a devolution. This election was a repudiation of civil and human rights, multiculturalism, common decency, and peace. The pundits say he won because of working-class whites unhappy with the direction of the country who believe he will "take back America" and "make America great again" -- phrases coded in racism, homophobia, sexism and xenophobia. Pollsters and talking heads told us that the electorate is changing, and it is. But it hasn't changed enough. We have four long years ahead of us, and we need to use that time to rally, reorganize and make real change once and for all. So that we repudiate the darkness that has fallen upon us. It is time for another revolution. Do not be silent, do not lie down. Use your art to make change. The Republic is, once again, in peril. Resist.
