A FEW REMINDERS: Tomorrow night (Tuesday, February 1) is the Tsunami Benefit at Outwrite Books at the corner of Piedmont and 10th at 8 p.m. Performers include: Franklin Abbott, Maria Helena Dolan, Vim Jairath, Craig Washington, Pat Wells, Veronica Jones, Angela Motter and myself. Money raised will be channeled through Gay Spirit Visions for distribution to glbt organizations in the hard hit areas of Phuket and Sri Lanka. If you can't get by there tomorrow night, drop off a donation anytime during the month of February, or send a check to Gay Spirit Visions, P.O. Box 339, Decatur,GA 30031. Make checks to GSV and note they are for tsunami relief. All money will go directly to GLBT organizations in tsunami affected countries. For more information call Outwrite at (404) 607-0082. Come early...parking can be a bitch.

On Friday, February 4, I will be hosting what I hope is the biggest Georgia Poetry Society Open Mic & Reading Series event to date. This month's reading is co-sponsored by Poets & Writers and will feature my pal and brilliant poet Cherryl Floyd-Miller. GPS was the first Atlanta organization to receive a grant from Poets & Writers (through money provided by BellSouth) to give funding to a poet. I'm very excited. Check the GPS website at the link above for details. You don't want to miss this one...plus there's an open mic!

Theatre Gael sent a lovely press release this morning to 3,000 people (!!!) about this coming weekend's staged reading of my play The Dark Horse. You can see the press release for yourself at this link. I'm very excited about the event and performing with fellow poet Beth Gylys. Hope to see many of you there.

Some of my new poetry will be published online tomorrow at Lily and Velvet Mafia. I'll post the links as soon as the sites go live. I'm thrilled to be in Lily with Poet Laureate Ted Kooser, who gives a down-to-earth interview. As for Velvet Mafia, these poems are for adults only. Also coming in February is my review of Sarah Maclay's collection of poetry, Whore, in the new edition of The Pedestal. Links up tomorrow.

Cheers!
