In Memoriam: Robert Altman
One of the greatest film directors ever. Altman died last night at the age of 81. He will be missed, but what a legacy he leaves behind with such great movies like Short Cuts, Nashville, MASH, The Player, Gosford Park, Tanner 88, Come Back to the Five and Dime Jimmy Dean and countless others. Even the ones critics called duds (like Kansas City and Pret-a-Porter) were better than most films. If you've never seen an Altman film, do yourself a favor this weekend and rent a few to see this genius at work.

On a side note, I had the pleasure of meeting Annie Ross in London back in the 90s and she sang "To Hell With Love" and "Trout" from the film at her concert and everyone went wild. She said working with Altman was a dream.
I'm keeping both versions. Kieslowski ranks with the best of the best.
