IN MEMORIAM: Anthony Minghella

Anthony Minghella, the brilliant director of The English Patient, The Talented Mr. Ripley and Truly, Madly, Deeply has died at the age of 54. What a great loss. The English Patient remains one of my favorite films, especially Juliette Binoche's performance. He died of a brain hemorrhage after a routine operation on his neck, according to the BBC. His talent will be missed.

That is so weird he died after having an operation on his neck. I bet there will be a lawsuit.

I've yet to see any of those movies. The lead man in English Patient, though, is one of my favorites!

truly terrible. what a waste -- sounds like it was a botched surgery. i've never heard of a hemmorage after surgery on the neck, but i'm no doctor...
